Meet the Team

Wendy Young

Senior Administrative Assistant

Wendy moved to the UK 10 years ago because she “fell in love with a Brit”. In South Africa Wendy first managed a health spa, then a hair salon but since she moved here, she has been studying to become a Chartered Manager. Wendy aims to finish her Level 6 Management qualification in 2025 and to remain a lifelong Associate Member of the Chartered Management Institute. Wendy loves studying and is especially committed to safer, fairer and more affirming practices in the workplace.

In September 2024 Wendy joined Links as Senior Administrative Assistant, understanding that her current skills set can help support people who work as therapists in the industry she has always longed to work in.

Wendy writes regularly for the Open Table Network and has a memoir up her sleeve… She is fascinated by how resilient people are and believes that by sharing our stories we can break the silence around any taboo.

INTERESTING FACTS

If you could travel back to one specific point in time, when would it be and why?

Can I go forward instead? To the year 3000 maybe – my favourite genre is futuristic fiction and I think it’s gonna be awesome!

What’s your favourite time of year and why?

Summer, all 5 days of it. I have acclimatised enough to find the SA summer too much now, but there is no better feeling than bright hot sun on my skin. It smells great too.

What is the best part of your job?

I am learning so much and I love that. I never want to stagnate and before I started at Links I had been in the optical industry for a decade. I had hit a ceiling and now I know I’m standing under the wide-open sky.

What makes you happy?

I’m exceptionally happily married and I know that’s a huge blessing. Second to that: music! Lots of listening to Scandi-artists especially. And lots of singing worship music in the church band. Also: dogs and chocolate in equal measure!

What are your Hobbies and Interests?

Writing, reading, music, movies, psychology and neuroscience.
