ABOUT US

Meet the Team

Becky Darnton

Occupational Therapist

Becky qualified in 1995, since then her career has centred around working with children, young people and people with learning disabilities. She has worked in both US and UK school systems and within NHS community teams, working with both mainstream and Special Schools and residential settings.

Having built up considerable experience in the NHS an opportunity arose to work independently and in 2011 Links Therapy Company was born.  Working independently has also allowed Becky to do some guest teaching at Coventry University on the Occupational Therapy Undergraduate Course and also the Social and Therapeutic Horticulture diploma course. She has been an independent panel member for a charity foster care organisation representing a health focus and she feels privileged to be an independent facilitator of Person Centred Plan reviews for two local not for profit supported living organisations.

Becky is passionate about trying to make services and lives better for people with additional needs and believes that key to this is bringing like minded people together to share expertise and enthusiasm. She is a founder member of the Regional Learning Disabilities network and has organised various face to face and virtual gatherings which serve as a positive place to support each other, share ideas and problem solve.

It is important to Becky that Links Therapy Company is a force for good, a community of practice and a place where working together as a team, enthusing, inspiring and cheering each other on underpins everything it does.

INTERESTING FACTS

If you could travel back to one specific point in time, when would it be and why?

I’d like to go back to the 1920’s as I love Art deco and the arts and crafts movement – I guess that’s why I became an Occupational Therapist.

What’s your favourite time of year and why?

Autumn. All those beautiful colours in the trees and crunchy leaves.

What is the best part of your job?

I love all the new people I get to meet and connecting people together – finding the right people to help, trying out new and creative ways of working – no two days are the same!

What makes you happy?

Glitter and anything that sparkles!

What are your Hobbies and Interests?

I play the violin and get a real buzz from playing or singing in a group. I am drawn to coloured glass and am learning to use it in craft projects. I also love a bit of a boogie when I get the chance!
